Jan 24 2016 Many Monkeys!

In my time in Costa Rica I did not see many monkeys on the first half of the trip, but when I went to Tortuguero national park.. They just kept appearing, made me sad I did not make it to the region with Squirrel monkeys!

Jan 13 2016 Frogs!

I have always had a soft spot Amphibians for as long as I can remember, which is why I tried to get as many pictures of them as I could. I took a lot but most were either asleep or in very bad light for pictures.. these are a few of the best.

I have take a break in posting some of my pictures but that does not mean I have not been taking them. I have found that I was just in the mood to post them.. hard to describe why but I hope that ends today. I will say I do love walking around Conservation areas in the off season, here was a place that has camp and trailer sites everywhere but better the May long weekend the beach and the forest around was just so quiet and so peaceful.. It is always worth a walk around.

September 30 2014 The Bugs We Find

I absolutely love bugs, as summer turns to fall one of the things that makes me sad is that soon, the familiar buzz in the grass and in the trees is going to disappear for the winter. It seem I am almost the only one who feels this way, everyone else is glad to see them go.  When I go on hikes I always enjoy just hearing and feeling the life around me and so here are few pictures of some of the insects I came across this summer.

As promised some of the birds I captured at Rondeau Provincial Park. These are not by any means all the pictures I took of the various birds I came across, just what I thought were the most pleasing to me. In case you want to know what kind of birds these are, in order from the top of the page. 1. Great Blue Heron 2. Male Red-Wing Blackbird 3. Brown Thrasher 4. Turkey Vultures 5. Double Crested Cormorant 6. Pair of Bufflehead ducks

I will admit I was worried about moving back to Toronto because I love being outside in natural places. The city I find wears down upon me after a while.. However, I love that I can still go out and find places like this. I went up north and walked along a snowmobile trail for a while until I came across a lake. Here is what I found.. I think I might have to come back here with a kayak at some point this summer.

December 27 2013 Work of Art that Swims

Coin

This was a picture I have long wanted to take.. Since I was around 1o years old my childhood pets were these two newts, Ron-tu and Fig are their names and after 20 years they are still going strong! I have tried to take many pictures of them but they never looked very good through the glass or through the water, except for this one of Ron-tu.. don’t know what it is about it but it is a though someone painted him on canvas. 🙂

December 8 2013 Winter Bird

Mellow-4

Even in the winter hearing the birds around me always lifts my spirits, I love it even more when in a group of Chickadee’s (which are always around) you see something different. Something that looks like a Chickadee but is a White Breasted Nuthatch. I was going to post the colour picture of this little guy but I wondered what he would look like in black and white as their colouration is rather mellow. To me it just made him look even more striking.

December 1 2013 The End of an Era

Hike-20Hike-16 Hike-17

Today was an interesting day, these pictures are still of Duncan’s Cove. I took some pictures today but I didn’t like them nearly as much as these ones from yesterday. Also the ocean is awesome and I am very much going to miss it. I suppose there needs to be some explanation there, it seems I am moving away from the east coast later this month. I am still trying to wrap my head around it but there it is. Job has ended now so there is not much left to do but pack up and clean, so in a way these are the beginnings of a farewell to the east coast at least for now.

November 16 2013 Winter and on to Prince Edward Island

PEI-13 PEI-47

Something you should know about me is that before today the only province in Canada I have not been to was PEI, which was ridiculous because I have lived in the Maritimes for about 5 years. Even though it is Autumn running towards winter I still wanted to go, even though nothing even remotely touristy was open anymore. That in itself was kinda awesome because I did not have your typical trip, I drove over with my friend Chantal and took a walk along a beach which was oddly reminiscent of sable island though with less trash and no seal bones to trip on. Then we went to a schutzhund dog competition which was really interesting. In case you don’t know schutzhund is a sport that was originally meant as a test for the suitability of German Shepard’s as working dogs, though other breeds of dogs can compete in them too. I couldn’t resist capturing a few action shots of the dogs especially during their protection trial, which as you can see involved the guy with the bite glove. While I could not imagine being the guy with the glove it was awesome to watch. A really great trip that makes me quite happy I was not there in the tourist season.
